Dallas Willard: Renovation of the Heart

I am finally getting back to reading a book by one of my favorite authors, Dallas WIllard.  We have lost good conversations about our character as Christians.  WIllard challenges us to think about this topic. The book, Renovation of the Heart (2002), early on has a great quote.

In today’s world, famine, war, and epidemic are almost totally the outcome of human choices, which are expressions of the human spirit.  Though various qualifications and explanations are appropriate, that is generally true.

I love and I hate this quote since it stretches my brain beyond repair.  The statement basically is saying that the bad things war produces is our fault.  Our character, being formed into the image of Christ, can impact things like war.

Do you believe this?

Yes…because I think that our character, although being transformed is still so tainted by the grips of sin…BUT if we were truly living the life that Christ called us to live…I doubt that there would be much to debate as far as war and the consequences that follow.
