Fitness Log Week 7: 5 pounds off, knee feels better

Running

I know…I was late getting this update.  Here it is. (Usually on Mondays)

Weight:  Good news!  I am down 5 pounds this week.  I now have
12.5 pounds to my ultimate goal of 186, and I am below my previous goal weight
level of 200 at 199.5.

Eating/Diet:  This week I have finally hit a stride in this and my wife has made some yummy and healthy meals.  One thing I made that my family liked was chipotle turkey burgers, with grilled onions.  Also, I found a product called Soyrizo that is a tofu replacement for chorizo–a favorite Mexican sausage of mine!   This is great with scrambled eggs.  By the way, you reduce an egg from 70 calories with cholesterol to 17 calories when you choose to use only an egg white which has no cholesterol and tons of protein.

Exercise: Well, my knee feels better.  NEXT week I am going to get back in the game…I hope.

How was your fitness this week?

  1. Hey Rich -

Just got my new “life insurance” policy … included were the results of my bloodwork and physical .. everything was looking great … both cholesterol levels were great … except one line item … which was over and flagged “***HIGH***” …

    Trigycerides: 220
The highest they like to see is like 190 ..

    So, more work for me.
    Congrats on your progress.

Fitness Log Week 6: Some progress and some setbacks

Hikingsandals

This week saw some plus and minus.

Weight:  The best minus was almost 3 lbs. down.  I now have 14.5 pounds to my ultimate goal of 186, and I am at my 200 goal weight level.

Eating/Diet:  I did so much better this week!  Except for the "planned" hiatus this weekend, I ate well within the proper portions and had a lot of greens and fruit.  This weekend, a calzone, ice cream cone and two mornings of buttered bed-and-breakfast meals will have to be paid for.

Exercise: The minus is that I did not get out much this week.  Only two days of exercises, which the goal range of about 3-5 being my desire.  My knee does not allow me to do as much as I would like, but I am going to get creative in the next couple weeks.  Stay tuned!

  • Wednesday:  treadmill with run/walk.  1.5 miles, 30 minutes and 200 calories
  • Saturday:  hiking to three waterfalls (pics and post coming soon).  3.4 miles, 2 hours and 650 calories

Obviously, hiking works great! How was your fitness this week?

Fitness Log: Week 5

Running

I have done some tweaking on the "Exercise Log" and decided to keep myself publically accountable for my dieting as well.  So, for this 12-week-plus trial, I am hoping to gain some good habits, maintain my weight loss, and live a more active lifestyle.  Here is what I did (and didn’t do) this past week.

  • Sunday: not much….
  • Monday:  1.75 mile (30 min.) jog/walk on treadmill (240 calories)
  • Tuesday:  coach potoe couch potato
  • Wednesday:  more coach couch (and 114 degrees outside…sigh)
  • Thursday:  1.75 mile (30 min.) jog/walk on treadmill (265 calories)
  • Friday:  coach couch again…some good books, though
  • Saturday: did I say I like the coach couch??

This week I decided to lose the 5 or so pounds I gained over the last two months.  I am counting calories and eating better this week and the verdict is in: I lost 4 pounds! I had a goal of losing 53 pounds, as some of you have read here on this blog.  That was reached last October and I maintained well through the end of Many.  June and July, however have not been great.  Now it is time to ramp it up.  My second tier goal is an additional 15 pounds!  I would like to get there by Christmas.

My knee is still healing, so I can’t do as much as I would like.  But, I am pretty sure this coming week will be better.

How was your week?

**Note–I actually corrected my spelling on this post.  THANKS for the multiple who have noticed and noted the spelling.;-)

Good week last week, as I reached my goal weight at my WW meeting–I’m down 58 pounds. However, my events since then included a campout and a birthday celebration. I’ve only got 2 bike rides in. I have a 4-day class this week, starting today, and it’s out of town. So I’m going to be TOTALLY out of my routine. Ulp. Need to do some planning

In other news, I’ve got a job interview later today for a VP gig in a neighboring school district. Off topic, I know, but I’m pretty jacked about it.

  2. So how does one “coach” a potato(e)? I guess we could ask Dan Quayle!
    :)

Man, you are doing great! My exercise routine is usually daily at the Y, but this summer I’ve been pathetic in the exercise department!

  3. coaching a potato is indeed a terrible thing to waste…er mind…er

I noticed the misspelling, but I wasn’t going to say anything…trying to repent of my gift of criticism.

I just started running gingerly again this week after an ankle sprain at the end of March. Confounded thing took forever to heal. Keep moving!

  5. Ha..Mark, you crack me up! My knee is still not working right yet…argh.

  6. Paul says:

This is so a good idea… It would be a good idea for me… I don’t think I can handle it.
