A wedding, a friend and the future is bright

Zachkarinaengage
I am going to officiate my first wedding to a good friend in Redding this next week.  Zach Tanksley will be wed to beautiful Karina on March 1.  The wedding details and Zach’s shameless plugs for their registry can be found here.

What is so special about this wedding comes from several years of intentional mentoring with Zach.  As it always should work, a younger person seeks someone older (ouch) they want to learn from and a relationship is formed.  I thought I would just have a school season with Zach, never to guess I would have the blessing of a life-long friendship.   I think I probably have learned as much from him as he might have from me.

The future is bright for Zach and Karina.  What I have seen in Zach is one who is always a learner.  The future is bright for this younger generation, too.  I love the humility and honesty  this next group of leaders bring to the table.

Please pray for this couple’s success and that I would not botch my first wedding.  I do not want to end up on YouTube…unless…!

Rich, your fear of landing on youtube reminds me of my first baptism – which was just last fall. I was terrified I would mix up my ceremonies and as I was baptizing say “I now pronounce you man and wife” or something else totally goofy. All I could think of was – “if I mess it up I’ll be on youtube and be infamous – yikes”. I was also afraid I would drop the first guy I baptized – much harder than baptizing a child – or at the very least “double dunk” him. I think we need classes for this!

Seriously, this wedding will be a cherished memory for you. God bless you as you minister in this new way.

What a great pastoral tribute to a beautiful young couple. Nicely done.

Of course I’ll pray for them. They look like a great couple.
