Worship Set List – March 30, ’08: Djembe, New original song, Simplify
This week was another awesome worship Sunday at Sunridge Community Church. Our new sermon series entitled “Simplify” began today. What a great concept: Greg Sidders uses the six statements that Jesus made about discipleship to help unclutter your walk with Christ. This is going to be a memorable six weeks for our church.
We did part of our service “unplugged” using a djembe for the first time since I came to SoCal. Kyle, our screaming drummer, actually plays it quite well. The idea was to “simplify” our sound right after Greg gave a synopsis of the series in front of the service.
We debuted an original worship song of mine, “This Sacred Place” and I think it was successful. I wrote this just a few weeks ago, and got good feedback about it from some worship publishing execs and friends at EMI’s www.worshiptogether.com while at a special songwriting session back in February’s re:create conference. (I hope to get a demo made soon.) **I added the video and chord chart in this post here.
Here was the music we did today:
- All To You – Lincoln Brewster
- Everyday – Joel Houston
- Heart of Worship – Matt Redman
- This Sacred Place – Rich Kirkpatrick
- My Savior My God – Aaron Shust
