Worship Set List May 19: Advisory Board, Psalm 13, and “Planned” Spontaneity
Another GREAT weekend at the Sunridge Community Church! Greg began his new series, “How to Stay Upbeat In A Downturn” which is very relevant for people with our economy these days.
Not that this made a big deal in our worship at all, but our church solicits evaluation from an Advisory Board
each year, where a team of coaches comes and gives us everything from
general feedback about our service to answers to specific questions we
want help with. The cool thing was that our worship was rated very
highly for being “engaging” and our team was praised. Yes, I LOVE this
worship team. You guys ROCK!
“Psalm 13” by Brian Doerksen was a highlight today. Chris Justice, one of our guitarists, truly moved me with his solo on this song. I love it when instrumentalists lead us in worship and Chris, Mike and the rest of the band truly lead!
Us vocal leaders obviously lead, too. But, that moment in this song
and the song itself not only set up our theme, but moved us all.
Again, this spontaneous thing makes its mark. All this means is
that we save some moments in the songs or service that we allow to be
off the cuff. The hope is to keep it fresh and to keep us on our toes
while being as real as we can be with our congregation. It seems to
work well this weekend! You can call these “Holy Spirit moments” if you want–where you know God is going to show up since you are counting on Him to do so.
Here are the songs:
- Everyday – Joel Houston
- Mighty To Save - Ben Fielding | Reuben Morgan
- A Thousand Hallelujahs – Mark Roach
- It is Well With My Soul – arr. by Mark Roach
- Psalm 13 – Brian Doerksen | Rademaker, Daphne | Mitchinson, Karen | Mitchinson, Steve
- Blessed Be Your Name – Matt Redman
