By the way, I am so NOT down on "traditional" music. This one just didn't seem to flow with the rest of the music in rehearsal. On Sunday it fit perfectly. We adjusted some of the dynamic structure of the song to give it the sense of a journey (or something like that... You know what I mean, I'll bet).

My son is in the 7th grade and is a very solid drummer (it's about the groove rather than the chops), and I hope to see him in a position to lead with me the way your daughter has done. Your post is really encouraging/motivating.

I was a little apprehensive about our music this week; the mix of the very traditional song in there had me a little nervous, stylistically. Here's our list of songs:

- Happy Day - Ben Cantalon, Tim Hughes
- Rise Up, O Church of God - traditional Joseph Barlowe, William P. Merrill, Aaron Williams
- God is Great - Marty Sampson
- Here I Am to Worship - Tim Hughes
- I Need Thee Every Hour - Annie Hawks, Robert Lowry
- Lifesong - Mark Hall

This was our debut of "Happy Day," and it was remarkably well-received. This is one of those songs whose music does a fantastic job of conveying the emotion and joy of the lyrics.

Hey Rich,

It's so awesome to hear about your daughter leading worship. I hope when our son is born I can encourage him in that area too.
