Coffee and Scones make for a great morning
The other day my wife and I enjoyed homemade lattes and these scones a friend makes for her business. The scones are amazing and the "mock Devonshire" cream and jam make them go down famously.
The coffee was made with our espresso machine. I am not an expert at
frothing the milk, but I am indeed getting better with the foam.
Keeping the foam bubbles small and compact is very important, of course.
What made this treat more of a treat was enjoying it with my sweet
wife. While I make coffee for us each morning, sometimes it is
dispensed in paper cups while one or both of us take it on the road.
This particular day was a late morning day. Nice.
Food is best when enjoyed together. And, preparing the food yourself only adds to that fact.
What morning treat do you prepare to enjoy with others?

my hubs makes me coffee everyday. and brings it right to my bedside. how’s that for love and servanthood?
I don’t get any scones, tho’. I wish I could dive right into that clotted cream. yummy.
Rich,
My favorite breakfast treat is sadly, no longer available to us. My son’s pancakes. He doesn’t do anything special to them, but has perfect timing with how long to cook them, and how much batter to put out on the griddle. He is the man. The sad part is.. that since Christmas, my son has lost 100lbs (as of Saturday) and can’t bring himself to make them anymore. I didn’t need them either, (I have lost 50lbs in the same time frame) but I sure do miss them. Wow, did this turn into a couch session?
Keep up the good stuff…
Yes! A coffee post!
Those things look really good. And it’s true that its great to eat homemade food with family. I’m just not sure if people would want me to make it for them!
My wife has learned to make egg McMuffins, which she makes on occasion. They’re pretty good. My mom taught her how to do it. It’s McDelicious.
Hey there Rich! You’ve tapped my favorite subject on the net next to Jesus….. FOOD! I actually just started a little food blog of my own.
My most favorite morning treat with my fam is latte’s. I got this “mocha pot” and just adore it. I haven’t used my electric drip machine in months and probably wont ever buy one again. Check out my blog and see the video. (http://fishesandloaves.wordpress.com/2008/07/08/barista/)
Sitting on the patio in the early morning chatting about Jesus, sipping a latte and listening to the birds with your hunny is a great mini marriage retreat we take them regularly!
Thanks for the great posts… keeps me commin back for more.
I absolutely love it when I wake up to the smell and sound of bacon, eggs, and pancakes being cooked by my roommate. He can’t cook to save his life but breakfast he can whip up in no time! Thank God for chickens, pigs, and whatever animals pancakes come from because my mornings without them would be incomplete
Those suckers require no cream of jam. They are perfect all by themselves (although I am sure the cream and jam taste delicious. I will have to try it next time.
yes!!!! another post
this stuff looks so good. i really want to try that now
cereal?
I make lattes for the entire family every morning, including my stepdaughter who I take to classes early. I’m finding that doing the right foam is a matter of getting to know your machine and how to find that sweet spot most consistently. Those scones look scrumptious.
Hey thanks for the scone compliment , what a great picture!!!! I might just use that when and if I start selling online.
My family actually rarely gets scones for breakfast because I’m always out of them.
