Worship Recap & Setlist: September 7

RECAP: This weekend we put together a new set design and had our “Annual Celebration” Sunday where church business and vision for the new year are presented by our pastor on behalf of our elders. The bad news presented to the church is that we had to make some budget cuts, including staff salaries. The good news is that God is working in many ways through the people at Sunridge such as when our pastor mentioned our homeless outreach called The Brook. We indeed have some significant challenges, but challenges are also “opportunities” for people to see God work and have our faith stretched.

Our set design is part of the launch of a new series called “Give Love Away.” What can you do with money or without it? Give love away! Here are some pics of our very low budget design which includes a painters drop cloth and existing things we had around. Our volunteers came through again, as they do week after week. I love these people!

SET LIST: We previewed a new series beginning next week called “Give Love Away” with a song of that title by a band called Exodus. They were kind enough to let us use that song for a video as well. Check them out!

I think the set looks good, man … you don’t have to be big-budget, that’s for sure. Sorry to hear about the staff salary cuts – I know that’s tough.

The set look great. I even noticed the large boxes (side stage) were a different color. Hang in there about the cuts. The Lord will work this out and suprise us in an amazing way. Hugs, Lynn

Hey Rich,

It’s cool to see you guys extending yourselves to take care of the poor even in the midst of the church’s own financial troubles. It’s tough out there right now. I’m going to write a book called “How to grow your church and shrink it’s offerings!” I believe that when you open up your hand to those around you God will bless you. It’s not always monetary but God’s in control of Sunridge.

Thanks for opening your hand in sharing your insight on worship and life stuff. For a newbie to the worship scene i’m finding encouragement through your posts and networks with other blogs.

We had a great Sunday for worship. Our 9:00 a.m. service is usually the one that lags in energy and participation. Sunday we had 3 older ladies checkin out our church. They just moved from New York and they were so filled with the Joy of the Lord that it was infectious to the band and the rest of the congregation.

On the “challenge” end of worship. At the end of this year one of our key worship team guys will be leaving. A great guy and versatile musician. I had also just began the process of raising him up to lead more often.

Can we start a league around inland valley and trade musicians? We’re a church of 250-275 and I have 7 incredible drummers, 3 keyboardists, yet only one guitarist and I’ll be down to one bass player at the end of the year.

I’ll give up 3 drummers and a keyboardist who works for Roland(which comes with all the Roland gear you could want)for a guitar player…
