Worship Recap & Setlist: September 14, 2008
RECAP: This weekend was our first sermon on “Give Love Away” with our pastor talking about God’s love for us as seen in the Old Testament. Britt, our Outreach Pastor, gave us a short yet powerful vision talk about the goal of this series of weekends: that we would be a church that does not just go to chuch but will be the church. In fact, we are taking our 900 or so people off campus on November 16 to serve and give love away to our community here in the Temecula-Murrieta Valley.
SETLIST: Our set-list today included out theme song “Give Love Away” and an experimental bluesy arrangement of “Your Love Oh Lord” which was done in one of our services. What I am noticing, is that one service seems to respond as if it were another church to our communication from the platform. This is common, I am sure, but interesting to note. H
Here are the songs:
- Give Love Away – Travis Doucette
- Because of Your Love – Paul Baloche
- Our God Saves – Paul Baloche, Brenton Brown
- Salvation Is Here – Joel Houston (Passion arrangement)
- Your Love Oh Lord – Third Day
How was your worship weekend? What experiments in worship have you tried recently?

I didn’t have a worship weekend with our church. Instead, we had a baby!!! We are very excited about baby Gabe. My wife, Johanna, did great.
I bet you were worshipping as that baby came! Babies are miracles.

That sounds cool. We’re also doing a “don’t go to church, BE the church” series right now.
I had a Paul Baloche day as well. Great set.
We did something different last weekend – we ended in silence and left in silence. We usually do a time of worshipful response at the end but I sang a song I wrote called “Invitation” (hidden off to the side)and we interspersed it with scripture on the screen and had people sit silently in prayer – and it was POWERFUL. People really responded to the time of stillness. Our point was to LISTEN to God instead of doing all the talking!
I’m really loving the song “Our God Saves” — Absolutely love Paul Baloche’s writing/music!
