High expectations and Obama… pray, pray, pray

This famous 2008 Youtube “Obama Is Going to Pay For My Gas And Mortgage” represents the high expectations Obama has to live up to. Biden seems to think that its not domestic, but international issues that bring high expectations for Obama.

“You asked me earlier if I am worried about the exceedingly high expectations that people have for President Barack Obama,” Biden told CNN’s Larry King in advance excerpts of his interview with the talk-show host.

“I said domestically I wasn’t so worried about that but internationally I am,” Biden said, adding that foreign hopes for the incoming administration were overwhelming.

Regardless of your political views, its is obvious expectations by some of Obama are strataspheric and perhaps a challenge in and of themselves. So, I think we should pray for our new leader to succeed. (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Pray.

    wow…uh…wow

apparently some people need prayer even more than Obama does.

Agreed. At our church, we have a special burden to pray for our leaders – no matter their partisan shade. Check out nationalprayercenter.org for info on the non-profit that started out of our church.

No matter what our ideals are, we can all agree that there is no way we could possible know the demands of the office… so yes we need to obey the Biblical mandate in 1 Timothy and PRAY. I actually just blogged about those demands today… http://www.marcushackler.com/?p=1156

lets be honest here…some people just dont get it. in many ways, Christians viewed Bush in a similar light and that didn’t work out so well.

    Rich,
Man, thanks – my entire family laughed so hard … a friend works @ a bank, and said they are already getting phone calls (no joke) asking when the govt is going to start paying their mortgages.

Tyler, I doubt Bush ever had much expected in comparison. Sure, some evangelicals thought Bush was a hero. But, the personal Messiah-like expectations on Obama are global. Biden confirmed that himself.

Now, Fred, I am completely serious here. No laughter. Obama is obviously working on dampening the unrealistic expectations right now. Let’s hope and pray for the best.
