Rich, I think you’re right on with these. Points 2 & 4 are absolutely connected as well. One issue any futurecasting church will need to address is the growing disparity between the styles of senior pastors and their worship leaders. W. leaders/W. pastors are getting younger by the day partially because of the type of music that is being played. It’s a bit tough for people to swallow when little old Doris is banging out Hillsong United on the piano, even if it’s good.
There is an ever growing generational gap (and consequently style disparity) between the two most visible roles in the church service. I’m not saying we all need to be similar, but when the senior pastor is old enough to be the father (or even grandfather) of the worship leader, there needs to be ground made up somewhere. My kudos to those pastors who have learned to adapt their communication to reach a different generation. Too much of the time, most of the adapting is thrown upon worship leaders and their teams.
