Matt Damon as Kirk? Wow. It is true. In 2008 there is a Star Trek XI movie coming out that is a prequel to the original series. Of course, I will watch it, no matter how horrible it is, since I just love Star Trek. J.J. Abrams at the helm is a good thing.

Barbara over at Church of the Masses gives us good reason to miss this flick, Little Miss Sunshine. Read her article and respectful rant about it here: Little Miss Crass and Vulgar.
I love Barbara’s wit and perspective on things. We too often in the Christian realm either fight everything, especially post-modernism and all that. Or, we watch vulgar films like the one mentioned in the name of engaging the culture. A choice quote from her post:
I feel absolutely sure that a legion of critics – and
certainly Christians! – will passionately defend this film. They will
relish its "fresh satiric critique " of post-modernity. They will say
things about how wonderful it was for the family to end the film
accepting each other in a stirring moment of loyalty and love. They
will say that this movie is clearly just not my kind of taste, and that
engaging culture means that we shouldn’t get stuck on little things
like vulgarity, profanity, crassness and the exaltation of
meaninglessness.
I appreciate her perspective.
Unfortunately, I may wait for the DVD and actually watch it so I can
understand more of what she is actually saying here. Maybe.

There is so much going on in Africa. From famine, AIDS and genocide the war-torn continent never ceases to be a center for human suffering and injustice. How is it that young filmmakers make a dent? Music, art and film are the language of our culture. The story is what moves us. These young adults of Invisible Children are telling the story. Check it out!
I have to thank Chad Jarnagin, better known as *Blogstar and my friend Brad Hansen (who has family involved in Invisible Children) for turning me on to such an amazing effort.

This one is especially for Ben. Star Wars actor, 25-year-old Hayden Christensen, breaks down in his $125K Ferrari in the middle of nowhere and is saved by a tow truck driver. Seriously. Here is the AP story: ‘Star Wars’ Star Saved by Christian Tow Truck Driver
