The beach spoke to me yesterday. An afternoon appointment canceled, so I headed a bit south to a place I lived years ago–San Clemente, CA. It is a place with rich memories from years since as well.  I took a nice walk on the beach, was hit up for weed by a skater kid, took some iPhone pictures and watched the sun set as I read my Bible reading for the day.

The colors of the water, sand, sky and reflections were sort of an epiphany yesterday afternoon. God was meeting me in the coral, aqua and gray hues of the waves as well as whispering in the wind. And yes, even the young guy who wrongly asked me for contraband was God’s way of having a sense of humor and teasing me.

All I am saying is that it really takes life slowing down to realize how much God is almost shouting at us. With sites so beautiful how could one not see God’s reflection off of the waves? I forget how much I need to take these moments. In fact, why not plan them instead of stealing a moment with God.

What does God speak to you through?

We were about 3000 feet above the Palm Desert area on our way to a church I was leading worship at this morning. Wow…it was a breathtaking moment captured on the iPhone camera. The drive over the mountains from Temecula to Indian Wells is always a treat. Sometimes its snow, or the lights of the city or wild flowers. Below is a picture of my family in right after I took the photo.

Of course, this is all in fun, but how many readers out there besides me and my Kansas friend Ben actually can admit to Star Wars being the greatest thing since bread sliced with a light saber?

I love this picture of the eggs! My friend Cindy gave me a plate of farm eggs last night at a BBQ, recalling the joy I would have at her fresh farm eggs left in Sunridge green room snack table. She also recalls the sadness I expressed when that gravy train stopped due to coyotes having her chickens for lunch.

For every beginning there first has to be an ending. The BBQ last night I spent with a few of my worship team friends from my former church was bittersweet and meaningful. The joy is that these relationships may be ending in one way but are also beginning in another as they pray with me about the next door God has for me and my family to walk through.

Bittersweet is a good word. In times of transition, we have to grieve that ending before we can be excited about the future. Actually, I think it is not so neatly packaged that way. Which is why bittersweet seems to be a good word right now.

How is your ending and beginning in your life’s current transition?

I love to make my family breakfast as many Saturday mornings as possible. We set the kitchen table and chow down on Belgian waffles with fresh blueberry sauce, eggs, bacon and orange juice. I love my waffler and cooking, but being together in a rare sit-down with my family of four is the best part of it.

Breakfast wins for me as the best meal which I could eat any time of day. What is your vote?

I am almost as much a fan of Star Wars as Ben Abu, so I think this is cool. But, I am wondering what caption PLEASE
