Do we lead worship to impress or engage people to life change? Leading worship is actually part of any pastor’s heart if we look at it that way.
As worship leaders we provide a safe place to meet God. We design experiences that are based biblically on truth, decoding the culture while engaging people in drawing nearer to God.
What do you think: is worship leading pastoring or something else?
Finally an affordable conference for those in the East Coast for people in the trenches–the small church. Most churches are under 200 people but few conferences specifically program to this huge group. I am so happy my friend Joel and his partners are putting this on! One cool thing is that the more who go from your church or team, the less it costs.
To help out, I am going to give away randomly one conference registration to whoever comments on this post within the next week. This registration will count as a full registration towards your church’s group number.
Recap: This was a special weekend in that two young worship ministry guys converged in a social media connection that could only happen in the 21st Century (see photo). Nick Arbuckle is a worship leader and student from Texas who found me at a conference via twitter last summer and ended up being our worship intern this summer. Sean Pritzkau is a student from Rochester, New York who intends to serve as a pastor some day. He has followed my blog and I his since he was in high school. Sean ended up staying the night at my house and sitting in on guitar on a song. Both these young men are impressive and I am humbled to have some part in their lives and am excited how in the 21st Century I can pray with a native student in the Philippines and encourage the next generation here in my church and elsewhere in North America. Recap: This was a Sunday I led worship after taking 12 days away on vacation. It was great to be back! Nick did super job the previous week. See and read about it on his blog. All I can say is we did have to scramble a bit behind the scenes with last minute cancellations and other minor fun things like printers not working and copy machine jams. But, our team as usual did a great job. Thanks to Sunridge music and tech people for coming through for our church week after week! (more…)
