Recap: It is always a special thing to begin a new ministry. One friend sent me a twitter that said, “what an awe-some thing, to step in to a new church. I hope this morning is a profoundly beautiful worship experience.” And, I received prayer and blessings from friends all over–even from Europe. What I realize is how small I am, but how you, me, and our local church really are global in our reach! Starting today at Venture Christian Church means I am part of a body of believers with global impact, while being my distinct and local spiritual family.

Recap: I was invited as a guest worship leader at Venture Christian Church in Murrieta, CA. My good friend Craig Wilson has been a pastor there since they launched seven years ago and has been the worship leader for the past three years. I have to give Craig props for putting together a dedicated and talented group of worship volunteers. You might not see a group this deep on the bench and talented in churches two or three times as large. (more…)

Recap: It has been very enjoyable playing in the Rancho Community Church worship team the past months. These guys are talented and have a big heart! One unique thing to Rancho is use of multiple worship leads during the service, which I like. The message by Scott Treadway today was about immigration and a biblical reflection on that topic. It was a good challenge, going beyond the political lines already drawn in the sand to issues of the heart. Check the link above to hear it.
One fun and embarrassing moment came last night when our guitar play Travis used pliers to remove an earbud that become lodged inside my ear! Time for ear molds?
