RECAP: Sunday Night, November 16 was a Night of Worship we put on to celebrate the end of our “Give Love Away” campaign. We canceled church on Sunday morning (see local paper article here) and did community projects throughout the valley. Well over 600 people served others!

The night was electric and the room full of people who were tired from a days work. That did not seem to stop them from singing as loud as I have every heard our church! My experience as a worship leader has taught me that the sweetest times of worship are around times when the people gathering are thinking outward as well as upward. The lackluster times of worship have been when people are sedentary and grumpy.

I am sure there are some grumpy people, as is the case when God moves us! It is not comfortable and it is messy. The mess of people is worth the activity of loving others. Those that criticize such momentum and energy to be outward will doom our churches to a slow death. Praise God for this past season and I pray the fruit would be far beyond our wildest dreams in seeing people find and follow Jesus in the Temecula Valley and beyond.

The night ended with our people coming forward to sign our “Give Love Away” banner as an act of commitment to live this way starting today. This was the most moving part of the service to me–to see hundreds file forward and even hang around up front to see others sign their names.

SET LIST: Our songs for the night were mostly upbeat. The keystone tune was “God of This City” with the anthem-like call for our people to see God move in greater ways. Our job is not finished here. So many people need Christ in our valley and the world.
