Randy Miller was a family man, musician and inspiration to many. Randy passed away yesterday after battling cancer, leaving a wife and two kids. Many of you have agreed to pray with me for him and his family during his illness, so I thought I would inform you so you could pray and support Kristyn and his family. As soon as a practical way to do that is available, I will let you all know.

For now, we mourn with those who knew and loved him. Randy played on my worship team several years ago in Redding, CA and was a good friend. I can say truly that he is one of the most inspiring men I personally knew. Period. He lived out his dream to be a pro drummer, playing with The Myriad. And, he would always talk about his passion to be the best husband and dad he could be.

I still have a couple of his broken drumsticks I saved from the time he would play with the Neighborhood Church worship team. It did not matter whether he was in a church worship band or on stage at The House of Blues, he put electricity and passion into the whole room. And, when you were with him in person he was always the real deal.

Anyway, I will write more later. Kristyn, we are sorry for this huge loss of yours. We love you and the kids.

I am very moved by the big hearts of bloggers and twitter friends who have shared the story of Randy Miller of The Myriad linking to his video or mentioning how people can pray and help.  If you do not know his band, they are fantastic.  However, I first got to know Randy as a concrete contractor who played drums in my church’s worship team.  I know his wife, kids and my family loves the Millers!  They are family to us.

As I have shared on this blog about my friend Randy Miller, he needs our prayers and support. His band The Myriad has made some great friends with a group called Third Day. Well, Third Day is amazing both as artists and godly, caring men. IF you are in SoCal PLEASE ATTEND THIS CONCERT.  Here is what Third Day sent out on Facebook today.

Third Day is playing a benefit concert for Randy Miller (drummer for The Myriad) and his family. The show will be at Friends Church in Yorba Linda, CA, on Dec. 7. All proceeds will go to the Miller family to help pay for Randy’s medical bills. Tickets go on sale on Nov. 21 at www.ticketforce.com.

Come out and support Randy and hear a fantastic band!  I ask my SoCal blogging buddies to PLEASE spread the word!!

Those who already follow The Myriad or who are friends and family with Randy Miller have most likely already heard the sad news that Randy had surgery to remove a tumor on his torso and was found to have cancer. Randy and Kristyn are amazing friends. This picture was the last time I got to play music with Randy on my farewell worship service at Neighborhood Church in Redding. My friends who served on that worship team with Randy know how much of an inspiration he is and how wonderful his family is. Tammy and I are asking you to please pray for him and his family as he has immediate financial needs.

**Update (11/2/08) The name of the cancer is chondrasarcoma.  Stage is unknown at this time.  Pray for this to be lower stage.  One scary thing is they said is it is possible that amputation of shoulder and arm may be needed.  Please continue to pray.

Two ways to help: His current church The Stirring has setup a way to give on their website.  All you have to do is sign up at this link where you will see a Randy Miller fund set up. Obviously, prayer is very important, too.  So, please keep him and his family in your prayers.  The diagnosis had to be sent to Harvard since it is a rare form of cancer.  Pray for their physical, material and emotional needs to be met and for God’s healing.
